Today you will first visit the spectacular Tian'anmen Square and the magnificent Forbidden City. After having lunch in a local family during the following Hutong Tour, you will be escorted to the Jingshan Park and the Beihai Park. In the early evening, our tour guide will lead you to the Railway Station to catch the overnight train to Xi'an (21:24-08:25+1). |

Tian`anmen Square (Details/Hidden)

Tian'anmen Square is located at the center of Beijing City. Paved in the Ming Dynasty, it is now the biggest city square in the world. On and around this square you can visit Tian`anmen Tower, Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and the National Museum, etc. The present Tiananmen Square has an area of 440,000 square meters and has become a relaxing public plaza for the common people to fly kites and bummel. On holidays and festivals, the whole square is covered with lots of fresh flowers.

Forbidden City (Details/Hidden)

Forbidden City, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, was built in the Ming Dynasty in 1421. It is the largest and the best-preserved Imperial Palace complex in the world. For five centuries, this palace functioned as the administrative center of the country as well as the residence of emperors and empresses of Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. It was absolutely forbidden for the common citizens to enter the imperia palace without permit, hence the name. It has come to a huge Palace Museum with many fabulous culture relics exhibited in various halls.

A tour to the Hutongs has become one of the must-see sights of Beijing in recent years. Taking a rickshaw, visiting a kindergarten (nursery), immersing with an ordinary family courtyard home, learning to cook Chinese food and having lunch there, and exploring the real local life in Beijing, through such a Hutongs tour, you could get close to Beijing local people and have an knowledge of the traditional side of modern Beijing.

Jingshan Park (Details/Hidden)

Jingshan Park, a beautiful royal landscape garden, is situated in the center of Beijing City. The park stands on the central point of the south-north axis of Beijing City and faces the north gate of the Forbidden City. The mid summit of Jingshan Hill was the highest point in Beijing. Looking from the peak, the visitor is able to get a full and clear view of the whole Forbidden City and the city of Beijing.

Beihai Park (Details/Hidden)

Beihai (North Sea) Park is one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved ancient imperial gardens in China located in the center of Beijing. This ancient garden, with over 1,000 years' history, is not only a classic combination of the grandiosity of the northern gardens and the refinement of the southern gardens in China, but also a perfect integration of magnificent imperial palaces and solemn religious constructions. Beihai is a peaceful place to wander and do some people watching. A walk around the various scenic spots in Beihai is definitely enjoyable. There are various places to take in along the way including: Jade Islet Isle, the Jade Jar of Dushan, the Painted gallery, the Nine Dragon Screen, the Liulige Tower, Yong'an Temple, the Five-Dragon Pavilion. There is also an expensive but classy restaurant, "The Fangshan" where reportedly the Empress Cixi used to dine!
